Batteries Are Included!

I got a chance to test drive the new Chevy Volt electric car from GM today at Eagle Auto Mall in Riverhead.
What a great driving experience with its’ smooth, quiet, efficient and guilt free operation. There was barely any pollution because of its’ lithium-ion battery and gas engine driven generator. You can drive 100 miles between recharges.
One owner, Tom Parks of Bay Shore, told me in an interview that in the two months he’s owned his new Volt, he’s only had to buy $20 worth of gas and driven 1,900 miles!
The folks at GoSolar.Com were at the Riverhead dealership and showed me how inexpensive it might be to use a solar charger. They say in 10 years of ownership of an electric car with the use of solar recharging you can get the mileage expense down to an equivalent of 79-cents a gallon!
The car has sleek lines, and ALL the bells and whistles including GPS navigation, On-Star, BlueTooth, power steering etc etc etc. and the government and GM are offering buyers a cash incentive of $7,500 bringing the sticker price down from $40,000 to about $33,000.
Still, electric rates to recharge batteries on Long Island through LIPA are expensive and some say you might do better with a hybrid like a Toyota Prius which costs considerably less.
